The Wood County (Ohio) Dartball League was formed in the 1930s and has annually had seasonal competition since the conclusion of Word War II.
The church-based league currently fields 12 teams from the towns of Bowling Green, Pemberville, Luckey, New Rochester, and Stony Ridge.
During the 2017-18 regular season, 159 men & women participated in league play, a jump of 14 from the previous season, and equaling the number of shooters in 2014-15. A total of 157 players competed in the WCDL in 2015-16.
The teams play a 66-game regular-season schedule starting the first Monday in October and ending in March. Afterwards a four-week, round-robin tournament is contested at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bowling Green to crown a postseason champion.
Capping the year is the annual awards banquet held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge.
In December 2015, the league held its 2nd All-Star Fun Night at BG Church of the Nazarene. The Home Run Derby has helped raise $191 for the BG Christian Food Pantry since 2014. No event was held in 2016 or 2017, but may return to the schedule in late 2018.
